Everyone talks, but who is doing anything about it?

Well you are, just by clicking on the link to this page proves that. And I am by starting this page. Together we can make a difference. Look I have kids and I can see they will not have the same world I have had. That makes me mad. It just seems like everyone else is just talking.. That is what prompted me to start this page. I have tried to live with as little of footprint as I can, I have not been on a airplane in over 10 years and I try to ride my bike when I can. But it just seems like it’s not enough. unfortunately in the world we live in today we just cant go without using carbon based energy. But if we all take a percentage of what we use and send it to a renewable energy source, then that will make a difference and we will begin to change the corse we are on. Its important to note, I am just one person who got together with some friends to start this project. We are not a huge company, we are just a hand full of people trying to make a difference in the world.

Before I tell you about our answer to the problem, let me say this. If you are not comfortable with our program then please try one of the other sources that you have seen in your search, its that important. My self and the people who helped start this page had a discussion and decided on the top things we did not like about footprint credits. They are as follows;

The problem we had.

1) who decided on the price? It seems its all over the place. The average is about $10.00. I don’t understand how they came up with that, We thought it should be up to you how many credits you offset. It all helps so if you feel you can afford more then feel free to pay for more.

2) why don’t we get any say so in how the money is distributed? If you feel that wind is best then you should be able to say invest my money there. If you would like it to go to more than one place you should be able to say so.

3) why do they send you a certificate? Or a receipt? In the electronic age why not do everything electronically?

What we are doing about it.

So with our program you pay what you feel you need to, you decide how the money is distributed, and everything is electronic. I know it is confusing trying to figure out how much to offset. And when you do how do you get it to the best hands? But we are adults here, lets look at this from a logical standpoint. If a person uses $1500 a month in utilities on his or her house/car then $10.00 may not be enough. But let me stress, we are not here to judge anyone! You contribute what you feel you can afford, remember every penny helps when It is all pulled together. myself I pay 10% of all of my heat/power, gas for my car, and other carbon expenses each month. We are constantly researching companies to find the best enmeshments that will provide the fastest return. We find the companies that plant the most trees each year, the most wind generators each year, and so on. It takes a lot of time and effort, but we don’t waist money on people that are just talking.
